About Us
The Northstar R/C Racers is a Club formed by a group of quarter scale stock car owners who have been racing together at Hideaway Speedway in Isanti for several years. Our hobby is regulated nationally by the Quarter Scale Auto Club (QSAC). QSAC determines the rules and provides insurance for the racers and tracks in the United States. Everyone who competes on the track at Hideaway Speedway must be a QSAC member.
There are currently two classes of cars competing at Hideaway Speedway, Grand National and Sportsman. We have had a Novice class in the past, as well as a Truck and Sprint Car class. Each class has its own rules, as prescribed by QSAC. We stage our race weekend very much the same as many of the local "full size" tracks. We have "open practice" until about 15 minutes before qualifying. Qualifying consists of two warmup laps and two timed laps, the fastest of which determines a cars starting position in that class' heat race. After the heat races are run, each class runs a feature race, usually requiring at least one "pit stop" for fuel.
Every season we stage ten "points races" throughout the summer months at Hideaway Speedway. The track is specifically designed for our cars. It is a 1/10th mile asphalt high banked oval with concrete walls, and is not only one of the fastest tracks in the country, but is also one of the best designed and maintained. Bleachers are available for our spectators' comfort, as well as refreshments. There is a campground on site as well, with limited electrical hookups.
In 2007, we have invited local car clubs to congregate on our race nights, adding another dimension to your visit to the track. Bring the whole family and enjoy a warm summer evening watching the races and checking out the "hot rods"!
